King Dasharatha is found dead by Kausalya. Bharata receives
the news from some messengers since he is away at his grandfather’s house.
After Dasharatha is cremated an entourage goes to find Rama in the forest. That
entourage even includes the queens. After several other encounters Bharata and
the entourage are directed to find Rama at the Chitakura.
Bharata finds Rama and shares the news of Dasharathas
death. Rama refuses to return until his
excile is over so Bharata rules in his place till Rama can return. Bharata
places Rama’s shoes on the throne until Rama’s return as well.
Sita receives a gift from Atri’s wife Anasuya. They also
meet with the sage Agastya’s who is known for lowering the heights of the
Vindhya hills. He gifts Rama with a bow. It is an upgrade from the one he had.
The Valakhilyas ask Rama to go to war with the demons. Of course like an good
wife, Sita tries to talk Rama out of it. She wants to protect her great husband
from danger. Rama then tells Sita the story of the Valakhilyas and how they
were scorned because they were so small.

Sita is upducted by the demon Viradha. So he and Lakshmana
go to find and kill the demon. Rama successfully kills the demon. Lakshmana
builds a house for them to live in. Ravana’s sister visits and tries to propose
marriage to Rama. Of course Rama rejects her offer….so she attacks Sita. Then
Ravanas sister returns and they plan Sitas kidnapping.
